Richardson Ch 3,5,7

The idea of using RSS feeds and an aggregator to collect information is amazing. I used Bloglines last summer to collect current events in technology from several websites. My goal was to use it this year for the students to blog about current events, but as I described in a previous post, that has not happened so far this year. It also is not being effectivly used as I haven't checked my Bloglines account since about July!
I think the ideas in this book are amazing, and I would love to teach the students how to use all of these tools. I have never used Flickr.com before and after reading the short chapter in the book, I am excited for the next class.
Chapter 7 (Flickr) reminded me of a lesson I taught my students last semester on Copyright infringement. They still don't seem to understand that the text, pictures, music, etc. that is on the internet does not belong to them. I have introduced them to Creative Commons, but I still don't think they understand. I hope to revisit this at some point. Hopefully, I can use the information we discussed in class last week to teach them about good internet resources and I may revisit copyright laws then.
